### Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Natural Resources Branch and installation natural resources managers in the implementation of Integrated Natural Resources Management Plans and programs including forestry, fish and wildlife, threatened and endangered species, wetlands, wild land fire and general ecosystem management while incorporating Air Force core values.
This is a TEMPORARY position NOT TO EXCEED 9/30/2018.

### Responsibilities
* Performs various combinations of duties in the natural resources field gaining experience and knowledge in the areas of forestry, fish and wildlife management, outdoor recreation and fire control.
* Works under general supervision of a higher grade technician or professional while performing the following specialized duties in forest management: marking and tallying timber and forest products to be harvested; and laying out reforestation areas.
* Insuring that environmental guidelines for the protection and preservation of endangered species are followed during all phases of silvicultural projects.
* Works under general supervision conducting timber inventory projects, establishment and monitoring special or experimental forestry stands or plots.
* Under general supervision conducts surveys designed to provide data pertaining to population density, nutrition state, and habitats of threatened and endangered species and other wildlife.
* Works under general guidance and supervision, while performing duties in fire management, as qualified, at an apprentice training level.

### Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
**EDUCATION:**Currently enrolled and successful completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. (Note: Current Proof of Enrollment Letter from the school and/or copies of your transcripts must be submitted at the time of application.)
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):**Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Working knowledge of a broad range of rules, procedures, or operations associated with forestry aid types of duties to perform a variety of tasks related to forestry management.
* Working knowledge of environmental concepts pertaining to a variety of projects for enhancing the environment for plants, fish, and wildlife.
* Ability to write reports and prepare spreadsheets using computers and word processing software.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
* Skill and ability to follow orders and process surveys, keep administrative records and data input.
* Skill and ability to use various mechanical equipment/instruments in order to maintain forestry lands.
**PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE**: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
**VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE**: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position has an education requirement. You** MUST**provide transcripts or Official Letter of Enrollment to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
**FOREIGN EDUCATION:**Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. **Working Conditions**
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special precautions, e.g. working around prescribe fire operations, heavy equipment, machines, moving parts and encounter with dangerous pests or animal such as ticks, wasps, and poisonous snakes and plants. The work is subject to inclement weather, heat, cold and exposure to forest fire heat and smoke. Employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as hard hats, boots, googles, gloves, earplugs, safety boots, and fire retardant clothing.
**Physical Efforts**
The work requires physical exertion, such as regular and recurring running, walking, or bending; walking or climbing over rocky areas, and other uneven surfaces, through dense vegetation, on hilly terrain and recurring lifting or moderately heavy items. In many situations the duration of the activity (such as most of a work day) contributes to the arduous nature of the job. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity such as marking of timber, timber sales inspections, and reforestation field surveys or prescribe burning.
